Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is to sign a new contract with the club before joining Ajax on a season-long loan, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.
Ajax have targeted Krul, 28, to replace Jasper Cillessen, who is expected to join Barcelona once Claudio Bravo seals his move to Manchester City.
Netherlands international Krul suffered a serious knee injury in October but is now close to fitness.
However, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is willing to let Krul leave, with the Championship side currently having five goalkeepers on their books, with Matz Sels and Karl Darlow currently first and second choice respectively.
Krul is in the final year of his contract at Newcastle and the club want to tie him to a new deal to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
