Francisco Calvo's header in the 73rd minute found the net and allowed the Chicago Fire to salvage a 2-2 draw with the Montreal Impact on Saturday in a key Eastern Conference match in Harrison, N.J.

The draw allowed the Fire (4-7-4, 16 points) to improve to 2-1-3 over its past six matches but snapped their two-game win streak. Montreal ended a four-match losing streak but still not won since Sept. 13.

Robert Beric got the Fire on the board in the 15th minute when he took a pass from Djordje Mihailovic to the left of Montreal goalkeeper Clement Diop, wheeled and ripped a shot into the left side of the net. It was Beric's fifth straight game with a goal, tying a club mark set in 2017.

The Impact responded just seven minutes later. The sequence began as Bojan Krkic's shot from just inside the box was blocked by Chicago goalie Bobby Shuttleworth, but the rebound fell right at the feet of Lassi Lappalainen, who lifted the ball over the keeper for an easy goal. It was the first score allowed by Shuttleworth in almost 200 minutes of game time.

Maximiliano Urruti netted the go-ahead goal for Montreal in the 67th minute as Zachary Brault-Guillard's crossing pass bounced of the leg of defender Miguel Angel Navarro and toward the front of the goal, where Urruti swiped at it just enough to get the ball past Shuttleworth.

That set the stage for Calvo, who jumped high in the box to head home a crossing pass from the right sideline. Diop got a hand on the shot but could not corral it.

Shuttleworth made a huge save in the 82nd minute on a shot by Lappalainen, diving at full extension to his left punch away a laser that was destined for the right corner. Shuttleworth recorded six saves in the match.
