Las Palmas promoted back into La Liga after 13-year absence

Las Palmas will be playing in La Liga next season for the first time in 13 years after beating Real Zaragoza on away goals in the Segunda playoff final -- 12 months after missing out in exactly the same fashion.

Zaragoza were leading 3-1 following the first leg but Las Palmas turned things round on home soil to seal their return to the top flight with a 2-0 victory on Sunday night.

Roque Mesa's 32nd-minute goal put the Canary Islanders ahead and then Sergio Araujo netted what would prove to be the decisive goal six minutes from time as the match finished 3-3 on aggregate.

That was enough to send Las Palmas up on away goals, having lost out in the same way in last year's final after drawing 1-1 with Cordoba -- the killer goal coming in stoppage time in the second leg.

Las Palmas, who had dropped down to the third tier since their last stint in the Primera Division in 2002, join Real Betis and Sporting Gijon in winning promotion to the top flight.
