Real Madrid held by Xativa

Real Madrid suffered the humiliation of being held 0-0 against Segunda B side Olimpic de Xativa in the Copa del Rey last-32 clash on Saturday night.

Real were beaten 2-1 by capital rivals Atletico Madrid in the final of the competition last season but, playing without the suspended Ronaldo, looked short of ideas and they could not break through against a side who has managed 26 points from their 16 matches leaving them in sixth spot in the second tier table this year.

Midfielder Isco went the closest for Real with two efforts shortly after half-time, but Carlo Ancelotti's men will have to regroup for the second leg.

However, Madrid were not the only La Liga club to record a shock result as mid-table Levante fell to a late 1-0 loss away to second division side Recreativo Huelva.

The two teams were locked at 0-0 for nearly the entire match until defender Ruyman popped up on the stroke of full-time to score the winner for the home side.

There were no such worries for Atletico Madrid as the joint La Liga leaders cruised to a 4-0 away win over Sant Andreu.

Turkish international Arda Turan led the way for Atletico, scoring a brace in the middle of goals to Raul Garcia and substitute David Villa.

Celta Vigo were also first-leg winners after claiming a 1-0 win over fellow La Liga rivals Athletic Bilbao.

in a game that produced seven yellow cards, young Celta Vigo striker Santiago Mina was the hero for the home side.

Finally, Segunda side Girona held on for a 1-1 draw against Getafe.

The home side went ahead early through Timor but Getafe struck back before half-time through Ciprian Marica.
