Javi Garcia: No margin for error

Javi Garcia believes Manchester City have to win back-to-back Premier League away games against West Ham and Chelsea to keep their title bid on track.

The 2012 champions have struggled away from home so far, losing to Cardiff and Aston Villa and only taking one point from a possible nine.

Garcia believes that means they have no margin for error now as they start to prepare for two trips to London in as many weekends.

He told the club’s official website: “We all know that if we want to be on top at the end of the season we cannot drop any more points. Now we have two difficult games away at West Ham and Chelsea.

“There is no other option other than to win all six points. We have already dropped enough points and we are determined to win both games.”

City have a 100 percent record at home in the Premier League and have scored four goals in the wins against Newcastle and Manchester United, and Garcia added: “I think the team is settling in very well and adapting quite fast to the ideas of the new manager [Manuel Pellegrini]. We have played some brilliant games so far. Our only problem has been that it has been hard for us to get some away points.”

Spain international Garcia believes there could be as many as six teams in the title race.

He explained: “We have all lost points but I think Arsenal will be a serious contender for the title, just like Tottenham. Chelsea and United are always there fighting for the title and Liverpool are doing very well.

“The Premier League is always very competitive and that is why it is so attractive. I think this season there will be many teams fighting for the title and top places.”
