Borussia Monchengladbach won their fifth straight Bundesliga fixture on Sunday by downing Schalke 3-1 at the Borussia Park Stadion.
Lars Stindl put the hosts in front after he earned and took a penalty, which was initially saved by Ralf Fahrmann with the ball looping in the air for the former Hannover player to reach first and head into the goal at the second time of asking.
Schalke levelled just before half-time when Max Meyer's low cross was turned into his own goal by Andreas Christensen, but Raffael restored the Foals' lead by curling a direct free-kick over the wall and in 20 minutes from time.
After Schalke midfielder Johannes Geis was given his marching orders, Julian Korb's first Bundesliga goal completed the win to lift Gladbach into the top half of the table for the first time this season.
