Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.
James Rodriguez to Liverpool
Despite interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, Liverpool have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Real Madrid's out-of-favour forward James Rodriguez.
Reports in Spain suggested that the Colombian could be used as a makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal that would see Chelsea's Eden Hazard go the other way, but Liverpool are now confident that they can beat their Premier League rivals to the punch.
Rodriguez, 25, has struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane, while the La Liga giants could look set to invest money in new midfield options this summer, forcing the 2014 World Cup star further down the pecking order.
Marcelo Brozovic to Manchester United
Manchester United are preparing to trigger the £40 million release clause in Marcelo Brozovic's Inter Milan contract, according to Calciomercato.
The Red Devils have been linked with the 24-year-old's teammate Ivan Perisic, but the higher price tag is putting off Jose Mourinho.
Brozovic has made 22 appearances for the Nerazzurri so far this season, scoring five goals.
Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona
Liverpool's Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho has been repeatedly linked with Barcelona in recent weeks, with reports now suggesting that the La Liga club are prepared to offer Ivan Rakitic in return in a bid to seal the deal.
Any transfer involving the Croatian would also come with a significant transfer fee but, although the Catalan side have been long-time admirers of Coutinho, the deal could depend on the club's new manager, with Luis Enrique stepping down at the end of the season.
Jack Wilshere to AC Milan
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere could move to AC Milan if the club deem him surplus to requirements when his Bournemouth loan spell comes to an end, apparently following David Beckham's recommendation.
The former Manchester United and England star spent two loan spells at the San Siro, and had urged the 25-year-old to link up with Milan in January, but Wilshere opted to stay in the Premier League.
However, Wilshere hasn't featured in Eddie Howe's starting XI over the last month, and the player is now keen to explore the Milan option once again.
Daley Blind to Roma
Netherlands defender Daley Blind is the latest Manchester United player linked with an exit from Old Trafford as part of Jose Mourinho's summer overhaul.
Roma are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as a potential replacement for Greek international defender Kostas Manolas, who the Serie A club are resigned to losing.
Blind has failed to impress Mourinho so far this season, and it now looks as though he will be the fourth of Louis van Gaal's signings to be sold on, following the departures of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
