Why Barcelona's season is already over (1:43)

Janusz Michallik feels Barcelona's season has ended already after their 1-1 draw at home vs. Cadiz. (1:43)

A weekend of big derbies saw Inter Milan dismantle AC Milan, Everton comfortably beat Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund swat aside Schalke 04. Elsewhere, the two Manchester clubs won, as did Real Madrid and Atalanta. But it was far from routine for Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, all of whom suffered losses, while Barcelona were held to a draw at the Camp Nou by Cadiz.

Here are the best stats from Europe's top five leagues:

Premier League

4

This is the first time West Ham United are inside the top four places in a top-flight campaign after at least 25 matches have been played, since 1985-86, when they finished third.

7

Bruno Fernandes has scored and assisted in a league game for the seventh time this season, the most by any player across the top five European leagues in 2020-21.

11

Manchester City have equalled the record for consecutive away wins by an English top-flight team across all competitions (11), which was previously set by Pep Guardiola's side themselves between May and November 2017.

18

City have also extended their English top-flight record winning streak to 18 games in all competitions. Guardiola's men have outscored their opposition 47-6 during this streak.

20

Everton have won their first Premier League away game against Liverpool since September 1999, ending a run of 20 such matches without victory, it was also their first win over their crosstown rivals in 24 meetings in all competitions (D12, L11), ending what was Liverpool's longest ever unbeaten run against a single opponent.

54

Fernandes now has 54 goal contributions in all competitions for Manchester United since debuting with the club in February 2020, tied with Lionel Messi for the second-most by a player from Europe's top five leagues in that span. The only player with more? Robert Lewandowski, with a ridiculous 68.

81

Jose Mourinho has earned 81 points after 50 league matches in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, his lowest total at this stage in any managerial stint. The highest was 126 in his first spell at Chelsea, the second-lowest was 95 at Manchester United.

98

Liverpool have lost four consecutive home league games for the first time in 98 years (since December 1923). They are also the first reigning top-flight champion to lose four consecutive home league games since Everton in 1928-29.

Bundesliga

20, 35

Aged 20 years, 10 months and 26 days, Jadon Sancho is the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score 35 goals.

22

No team has won more games (at home) in professional football against Bayern Munich than Eintracht Frankfurt, with 22. In fact, in their last meeting at Frankfurt in November 2019, Bayern suffered a 5-1 defeat, their heaviest Bundesliga loss of the last decade.

Serie A

1

Romelu Lukaku dominated the Milan derby. He scored one and set up another in Inter Milan's 3-0 win, becoming the first player to score in five consecutive Milan derbies across all competitions.

La Liga

7

Atletico Madrid have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven La Liga games (nine goals conceded), their longest run without one in the competition under Diego Simeone.

13

Villarreal's 13 drawn games is the most by a team in the top five European leagues this season.

400

Sergio Busquets is the fourth Barcelona player to reach 400 La Liga appearances after Messi (506), Xavi Hernández (505) and Andrés Iniesta (442).

Ligue 1

5

PSG have not scored for the fifth time in Ligue 1 this season. The last time they were held scoreless in five league matches was in 2011-12. Consider that PSG were held scoreless in league play four times in total in the past three seasons.

Messi-Ronaldo watch

Messi scored, but it wasn't enough to stop Barca from dropping points. Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus, meanwhile, play their weekend's fixture late on Monday.

38

Messi has now scored against 38 La Liga clubs, extending his own league record. Aritz Aduriz and Raul Gonzalez are tied for second with 35 each.

110

Cadiz is the 110th team Messi has scored against for club and country, and the 81st such club. The only clubs that Messi has failed to score against are Inter Milan (4 games), Rubin Kazan (4), Benfica (2), Xerez (2), Al-Sadd (1), Gramenet (1), Murcia (1) and Udinese (1).

60

Messi's goal was his 60th penalty goal in La Liga, one shy of tying the league record, held by... guess who? Ronaldo, with 61.

506

Another Barcelona record is Messi's. The Argentine has now made more La Liga appearances for Barcelona (506) than any other player in their long and storied history.
