Vitality, Fnatic advance to semis at DreamHack Masters Malmo

Fnatic and Team Vitality advanced to the semifinals of DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019 on Friday in Sweden.

Fnatic ousted Ninjas in Pyjamas with a 2-1 series win in their best-of-three quarterfinal matchup at the $250,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event. Vitality took down mousesports 2-1.

Fnatic opened with a 16-12 win on Dust 2, but opened the door to NiP in the second map, losing 16-8 on Nuke. Fnatic rallied back to win 16-9 on Overpass to wrap the series. They will next face Astralis in their semifinal matchup.

Vitality won their first map vs. mousesports by a narrow 16-14 margin on Mirage, then dropped their second map 16-12 on Inferno. Vitality clinched their series with a 16-13 win on Dust 2 and earned their spot in the semis vs. Natus Vincere.

The semifinals are set for Saturday with the grand final on Sunday. The champion will receive $100,000 and a berth in the $500,000 Intel Extreme Masters Season XIV World Championship, scheduled for Feb. 25-March 1 in Katowice, Poland.

All playoff matches are best-of-three.
