Benevento and Vicenza find themselves at opposite ends of the 22-team table with six rounds of the regular season to play.

Benevento, who are featuring in the second tier for the first time in their 88-year history, are currently in fourth place which. If they hold onto it until the end of the season Stregoni (Witches) would qualify for the promotion play-offs.

Vicenza, meanwhile, find themselves down in 19th position, just one point above Ternana in the bottom-three automatic relegation places. While their current position means they'd have to play in the relegation playout, Vicenza are only one point from safety.

The Biancorossi (White-Reds) have their away form to thank for not being further in their quagmire, havng picked up 19 points on the road against 18 at home. That said, their minus 16 goal difference is the worst in Serie B, and will be in need of rectification starting on Friday.

Vicenza, who spent the entire 1960s, most of the 1970s and a large part of the 1990s in Serie A, could call on four Africans to help them in their quest for survival.

That said, only Nigerians Osarimen Ebagua and Daniel Adejo are regulars. Adejo, the 27-year-old from Kaduna will be required to be at his disciplined best in central defence on Friday night. At the same time, Ebagua will need to find a prolificacy that has been missing from his game this season - the 30-year-old Benin City native only has three goals in his 30 appearances.

Meanwhile, it would be a surprise if 20-year-old Souleyman Doumbia (French born to Ivorian parents) or 18-year-old Cameroonian Joseph Bouasse (who goes by B.O.J. Perfection!) featured - they've spent the majority of the season in the youth squads.

Of African interest in the Benevento team, look out for Raman Chibsah, Bright Gyamfi and Karamoko Cissé.

Chibsah (main picture), the 24-year-old Ghanaian, has been the most consistent African at Stregoni (Witches), as Benevento are nicknamed. The holding midfielder has featured 32 times for them, and chipped in with four goals.

That matches the tally of Guinean striker Karamoko Cissé, the 28-year-old who's been with the Benevento for two years. On the other hand, Bright Gyamfi, the 21-year-old Ghanaian rightback on loan from Inter Milan, has made 16 appearances but none in recent weeks.

If there's a contest that has many reasons to watch it, then Benevento vs. Vicenza has that feel to it. Will the Johnny-come-latelys continue their dream run? Can Vicenza halt their slide? Will an African player be the decisive factor?
