Sixteen-time world darts champion Phil Taylor has teased MMA star Conor McGregor following his defeat to boxing's Floyd Mayweather.

Taylor, who won eight consecutive World Championships from 1995 to 2002, tweeted McGregor a spoof news article with the caption: "So you fancy a bit of The Power do You?"

McGregor's venture into boxing lasted 10 rounds on Saturday night as Mayweather won the historic fight in Las Vegas.

Now, Taylor has challenged McGregor to put down the boxing gloves in exchange for some darts.

Taylor, 57, is considered one of the greatest to have ever played his sport, winning 216 professional tournaments in his career.

He most recently competed in the Perth Darts Masters, losing to Raymond van Barneveld in the quarterfinals.
