WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Rashad Armstrong ran for 125 yards and
two touchdowns as Baylor cruised past Division I-AA Sam Houston
State, 27-6, for the 500th win in school history.
Armstrong had 22 carries and scored on runs of five and 39 yards
for the Bears (2-2), who improved to 500-475-43 all time.
Baylor got on the board first on a 21-yard field goal by Kenny
Webb with 8:35 left in the first quarter. Robert Quiroga made
it 10-0 with a seven-yard TD reception from Aaron Karas 2:20
later and Armstrong extended the lead to 17 points on a
five-yard run 2:52 into the second quarter.
Karas was 11-of-19 for 188 yards and one interception for
Baylor, which improved to 2-0 all time against Sam Houston
State. The Bears posted a 13-9 triumph here on Septmber 22,
Wade Pate completed 7-of-20 attempted for 67 yards with one
touchdown, a 20-yard pass to Bernard Campbell with 7:52 left in
the second quarter, for the Bearkats (1-2). Joey Price missed
the extra-point attempt.
The Bearkats are 2-15 all time against Division I-A opponents,
while Baylor improved to 10-0 against I-AA foes.
