12am (AEST) Sunday April 11, Anfield
One of the more keenly anticipated fixtures in England all season has arrived when Liverpool play host to Aston Villa in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The champions haven't been anywhere near the sort of form that saw them run away with the EPL title last season and the first major crack of their defence came in the reverse fixture back in October.
That was when we saw the remarkable scoreline of 7-2 - to Aston Villa!
That was totally unexpected and subsequent injuries and poor form have made the Reds are far less reliable betting proposition than they have been for the past two seasons.
That said, I am backing them to secure the three points here for a few reasons.
The first is that they have to recommence their winning run at Anfield. To date, they have lost their past six games at home which is incredible considering they went unbeaten there in the league for four years!
Secondly, a Champions League place is on the line and Jurgen Klopp's side are within two points of the top four with eight games remaining. If they want to play in that competition again next season then automatic qualification could be their only way to do it as they are currently down 3-1 to Real Madrid in their quarter-final fixture of that same comp.
And finally, and this could be the big factor for the Reds, is revenge. No one likes to get smashed and humiliated but that is exactly what happened during that 7-2 demolition. Getting three points and beating Villa will be a nice little 'get square' if they can make it happen.
For Villa fans, they had a great start to the campaign but have been a little inconsistent of late.
Dean Smith's side followed a win at Leeds with a loss to bottom side Sheffield United. A couple of draws against Wolves and Newcastle followed up with a loss to Spurs before they secured a home win against Fulham.
They are well outside the relegation zone but realistically can't make the European places either so they could be just going through the motions for the rest of the campaign.
So, my money is on Liverpool but if we are to make a bit of coin out of the game, Diogo Jota will be the one to deliver. Back him to Score A Goal at Anytime - he has five goals for club and country in the past fortnight alone.
TIP: Liverpool (Result) @ $1.55
