NRL Round 11 - Canberra vs. Souths (Saturday 7:35pm AEST)
The Raiders can look to build momentum in the run to this year's finals when they host Souths on Saturday night.
Canberra scored a big upset last week when narrowly beating the Sydney Roosters 24-20 and that was despite missing several key players due to injury.
They currently boast a 6-4 record and have wins over the Roosters and Storm so far this season, showing that there is no hangover from their run to the Grand Final in 2019.
Now, Ricky Stuart's side can use that win against the premiers as a stepping stone for the remainder of the season and playing at home against Souths appears to be perfect.
They have won two of the past three contests between the sides at GIO Stadium including last year's preliminary final, so that is definitely in their favour.
Souths are currently sitting on the edge of the top eight, but it is their form away from home which has me leaning towards Canberra in this one. Wayne Bennett's side has only recorded one win from five 'away' games this season.
Off the back of that and the fact Canberra appear a far stronger side than the Rabbitohs at this point, my money is with the Green Machine.
EPL Round 38 - Newcastle United vs. Liverpool (Monday 1am AEST)
The final round of the 2019/2020 English Premier League season takes place this weekend with champions Liverpool looking to celebrate in style with a victory away to Newcastle United at St James's Park.
The Reds have not been as dominant since the EPL resumed after the coronavirus-enforced shutdown, but their dominance in the first two-thirds of the season was enough to secure the title with many rounds to spare.
Liverpool's last showing was a 5-3 triumph at home to Chelsea which followed a 2-1 defeat away to Arsenal.
In their last five EPL fixtures, Liverpool has secured three wins and one draw.
Even though Liverpool's form has not been as strong as earlier in the season, it is still far superior to Newcastle United's performances since the resumption.
Newcastle United has failed to secure a victory in their last five EPL contests (two draws and three losses) with their last outing a nil-nil stalemate away to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Magpies will stay in the EPL, but for one of the most popular clubs in England, it has been another unremarkable season.
Liverpool has won their last four matches against Newcastle United and in three of those meetings, the Reds won by two goals or more.
Liverpool should comfortably cap off an outstanding season in style.
