MELBOURNE VICTORY v SYDNEY FC
Friday night, AAMI Park
The latest edition of the Big Blue looks set to follow the trend of recent history.
Sydney FC are riding a 10-game unbeaten run in the league and have dominated this fixture in recent times, taking out 10 of their last 13 Hyundai A-League games against the Victory.
Steve Corica's men are eight points clear on top of the ladder with a game in hand over second place Melbourne City. They have won 11 of their 13 games, drawn one and lost one. A win here would give them the best start to an A-League campaign after 14 games (37 points), surpassing Graham Arnold's champions of 2017/18 (36).
Victory have been disappointing by their lofty standards and that is why they sacked Marco Kurz.
Currently they are a win behind sixth placed Adelaide having played a game more, however, there is still ample time for the four-time champions to make the finals.
If you fancy a bit of an upset then the $3 for Melbourne Victory to win this game is tempting, especially when you take into account their excellent form at AAMI Park.
Victory are unbeaten in their past seven matches at the venue, winning five, while they have kept clean sheets in three of their past four matches there.
Despite that, Sydney FC have proven themselves to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition so far this season and although games between these sides are always tough, the Sky Blues just look too classy for mine.
MELBOURNE CITY v PERTH GLORY
Saturday night, AAMI Park
The hottest team in the A-League looks a good bet for mine on Saturday night.
Perth are eyeing off a new club record seventh consecutive win and their winning streak actually started back in Round 9 when they knocked off City 3-0.
Last year's Premiers Plate winners had a slow start to the season but have really hit their straps and even ladder leaders Sydney FC cannot match their record in the past six matches (five wins, one draw).
Making the Glory an even better bet is their tremendous record over City, losing just once to them in their past 11 clashes.
So I am prepared to take the price about Perth getting the job done here but if you are someone that likes to have a crack at goalscorer markets, look no further than two of the sharpest shooters in the A-league.
Jamie Maclaren (13 goals) and Bruno Fornaroli (8) have been on fire late, especially the latter, who has bagged goals in five of Perth's last six matches.
TIP: Bruno Fornaroli (First Goalscorer) @ $5
