A-League Round 12 - Sydney FC v Melbourne City (Sunday 6:30pm AEDT)
Sydney FC has clearly been the dominant force in the first half of the 2019/2020 A-League season, and they will be aiming to solidify top spot on the ladder against Melbourne City at Jubilee Stadium.
The Sky Blues have won eight of their 10 fixtures thus far, with their only draw coming last week in a 2-2 result away to Wellington. That draw ended Sydney FC's six-match winning streak.
Adam Le Fondre has enjoyed a terrific season as we approach the midway point of the season with 11 goals and he has been ably supported by Kosta Barbarouses (four goals) who transferred from Melbourne Victory in the offseason.
Despite sitting second on the ladder, Melbourne City has been inconsistent of late with two wins in their last five contests.
City were expected to brush aside Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park last Saturday night, but Victory recorded a 2-1 triumph as big outsiders.
Unfortunately, this week's task is even harder for Melbourne City to conquer. City only has one win and one draw in their last nine A-League matchups against Sydney FC.
Add to that, Sydney FC has won all five of their home matches this season, with three of those occurring at Jubilee Stadium (the other two were at Leichhardt Oval).
Sydney FC should prove far too good for Melbourne City.
NFL Week 17 - Seattle Seahawks v San Francisco 49ers (Monday 12:20pm AEDT)
The battle for the NFC West Division title and the top seed in the NFC will be determined in the final game of the regular season when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field.
The 49ers currently sit atop the NFC West with a 12-3 record while the Seahawks enter with an 11-4 record.
These teams, along with the Green Bay Packers (12-3) and New Orleans Saints (12-3), are squabbling over the top two seeds and a first-round bye in the opening week of the playoffs.
Following a shock 29-22 loss at home to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15, the 49ers were victorious 34-31 against the Los Angeles Rams at home last Sunday.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was not great with one touchdown pass and two interceptions, but he engineered the drive that led to Robbie Gould's 33-yard game-winning field goal.
The Seahawks have stumbled late in the season with two losses in their last three encounters. Last week's 27-13 home defeat to the Arizona Cardinals was a stunner considering Arizona's starting quarterback Kyler Murray missed the second half due to a hamstring injury.
Seattle are struggling with injury, but quarterback Russell Wilson has ample time to prepare for the offence to rely on his arm as opposed to the running game.
In Week 10, the Seahawks defeated the 49ers 27-24 in overtime on the road, and at the current prices on offer, the gap is too wide between these NFC West rivals.
