Sharks win NRL trial win against Manly

Key Cronulla signing Matt Moylan has produced a mixed bag in his first genuine hitout for his new club in the Sharks' 30-14 pre-season win over Manly.

Moylan showed some neat touches on Saturday night, combining with halfback Chad Townsend, but also produced two errors in a mixed outing before bowing out at halftime.

The former Penrith captain also kicked one goal from two attempts.

In a sour note for the Sea Eagles, stand-in captain Darcy Lussick limped off with what appeared to be a serious lower leg injury in just the second minute at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

Despite the early setback, the visitors had the jump early on the Sharks when Brad Parker twice benefited from aerial raids down his left flank to take an early 8-0 lead.

However, two of the Sharks' promising backline talents, Sione Katoa and Jesse Ramien, both responded to give the home side a 10-8 lead at the break.

Both coaches reached deep into their bench for most of a second half dominated by the Sharks, who were led by back-up halves Trent Hodkinson and Kyle Flanagan.

Hooker James Segeyaro also shone in the second period with a trademark try close to the line, before Briton Nikora, Edrick Lee and Cruz Topai-Aveai crossed for a runaway result.
