NRL Preview Round 26: Brett Kimmorley verdict, TAB odds, Josh Dugan named for Dragons

Thursday, August 31

North Queensland Cowboys vs. Brisbane Broncos, 1300Smiles Stadium at 7.50pm (AEST)

Cowboys: Lachlan Coote, Kyle Feldt, Javid Bowen, Kane Linnett, Antonio Winterstein, Te Maire Martin, Michael Morgan, John Asiata, Jake Granville, Scott Bolton, Gavin Cooper, Ethan Lowe, Jason Taumalolo. Reserves: Ben Hampton, Coen Hess, Corey Jensen, Shaun Fensom, Sam Hoare, Kyle Laybutt, Braeden Uele, Enari Tuala

Broncos: Darius Boyd, Corey Oates, James Roberts, Tautau Moga, Jordan Kahu, Anthony Milford, Kodi Nikorima, Sam Thaiday, Ben Hunt, Adam Blair, Alex Glenn, Matt Gillett, Josh Mcguire. Reserves: Benji Marshall, Tevita Pangai, Joe Ofahengaue, Herman Essese, Jai Arrow, Jaydn Su'a, David Mead, Todd Murphy

Brett Kimmorley's Tip: Broncos

TAB verdict: A game with massive implications for both teams; North Queensland need to win to secure a top eight spot, Brisbane need to win to avoid a potential week one finals clash with Melbourne. The Broncos can bounce back hard after last week's dismal loss to Parramatta because they just never showed up, and Bennett won't let that happen again. Tip: Brisbane -5.5 @ $1.90

TAB odds: Cowboys $2.60, +5.5 @ $1.90, Broncos $1.50, -5.5 @ $1.90

Reserves: David Gower, Kenny Edwards, Siosaia Vave, Suaia Matagi, Kaysa Pritchard, Josh Hoffman, Beau Scott, Frank Pritchard

Rabbitohs: Bryson Goodwin, Campbell Graham, Aaron Gray, Tyrell Fuimaono, Robert Jennings, Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds, Thomas Burgess, Damien Cook, Sam Burgess, John Sutton, Angus Crichton, Cameron Murray. Reserves: Robbie Farah, George Burgess, Kyle Turner, Dean Britt, Jason Clark, David Tyrrell, Siosifa Talakai, Luke Kelly

Brett Kimmorley's Tip: Eels

TAB verdict: Parra were fantastic last week, though it was one of those games where the other team didn't turn up, so it remains to be seen how much can be taken from it. Luckily, the Eels probably won't be tested too much against a Souths team that has nothing to play for and are coming off a demoralising flogging from Melbourne last week. They'll struggle to score here, and unders looks like a good play. Tip: Parramatta hd 2 hd/Under 42.5 total points @ $2.45

TAB odds: Eels $1.20, -13.5 @ $1.85, Rabbitohs $4.50, +13.5 @ $1.95

Sydney Roosters vs. Gold Coast Titans, Allianz Stadium at 3:00pm (AEST)

Roosters: Michael Gordon, Latrell Mitchell, Ryan Matterson, Mitchell Aubusson, Blake Ferguson, Luke Keary, Mitchell Pearce, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Jake Friend, Dylan Napa, Boyd Cordner, Aidan Guerra, Isaac Liu. Reserves: Zane Tetevano, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Kane Evans, Connor Watson, Joseph Manu, Victor Radley, Lindsay Collins, Mitchell Cornish

Titans: Jarryd Hayne, Anthony Don, Phillip Sami, Leivaha Pulu, William Zillman, Kane Elgey, Ashley Taylor, Morgan Boyle, Pat Politoni, Agnatius Paasi, Kevin Proctor, Joe Greenwood, Max King. Reserves: Jamal Fogarty, Nathaniel Peteru, Eddy Pettybourne, Ben Nakubuwai, Keegan Hipgrave, Alexander Brimson, Kobe Tararo, Apiata Noema-matenga

Brett Kimmorley's tip: Roosters

TAB verdict: A change at the helm did nothing for the Titans as far as finding any semblance of form last week, as they went down to the Bulldogs. With second place on the line it's hard to envisage how the Roosters could falter here. Expect them to tune up for the finals with a comprehensive win. Tip: Sydney Roosters -22.5 @ $1.90

TAB odds: Roosters $1.13, -16.5 @ $1.90, Titans $6, +16.5 @ $1.90

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles vs. Penrith Panthers, Lottoland Park, 5:30pm (AEST)

Sea Eagles: Tom Trbojevic, Matthew Wright, Dylan Walker, Brian Kelly, Akuila Uate, Blake Green, Daly Cherry-Evans, Darcy Lussick, Apisai Koroisau, Martin Taupau, Frank Winterstein, Curtis Sironen, Jake Trbojevic. Reserves: Lewis Brown, Lloyd Perrett, Brenton Lawrence, Addin Fonua-blake, Shaun Lane, Cameron Cullen, Jarrad Kennedy, Jackson Hastings

Panthers: Dean Whare, Josh Mansour, Tyrone Peachey, Waqa Blake, Dallin Watene Zelezniak, Tyrone May, Nathan Cleary, James Tamou, Peter Wallace, Regan Campbell-Gillard, Corey Harawira, Isaah Yeo, James Fisher-Harris. Reserves: Sione Katoa, Bryce Cartwright, Tim Browne, Trent Merrin, Moses Leota, Viliame Kikau, Matt Moylan, Jed Cartwright

Brett Kimmorley's tip: Sea Eagles

TAB verdict: Manly have been average at best for almost six weeks, and it should have never got to this for them. Penrith had one of those games last week against the Dragons where little went right, especially in attack, but their ever-improving defence was still rock solid. Dylan Edwards is a big loss for them, but they have depth and they are a better team than Manly overall. They should do enough to win and secure their spot in the eight. Tip: Penrith hd 2 hd @ $2

TAB odds: Sea Eagles $1.73, -2.5 @ $1.90, Panthers $2.10, +2.5 @ $1.90

Melbourne Storm vs. Canberra Raiders, AAMI Park 7:30pm (AEST)

Storm: Billy Slater, Suliasi Vunivalu, William Chambers, Curtis Scott, Josh Addo-Carr, Cameron Munster, Cooper Cronk, Jesse Bromwich, Cameron Smith, Jordan McLean, Felise Kaufusi, Tohu Harris, Dale Finucane. Reserves: Kenneath Bromwich, Tim Glasby, Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Slade Griffin, Robbie Rochow, Joe Stimson, Young Tonumaipea, Nate Myles

Raiders: Jack Wighton, Nick Cotric, Jarrod Croker, Joseph Leilua, Jordan Rapana, Blake Austin, Aidan Sezer, Junior Paulo, Josh Hodgson, Shannon Boyd, Josh Papalii, Elliot Whitehead, Iosia Soliola. Reserves: Kurt Baptiste, Joseph Tapine, Dave Taylor, Luke Bateman, Jeff Lima, Clay Priest, Royce Hunt, Michael Oldfield

Brett Kimmorley's tip: Storm

TAB verdict: This would have been some game if Canberra were still a hope of making the eight -- unfortunately it hasn't worked out like that -- and surprisingly Melbourne have named a full strength side here with not much on the line for them. Canberra can play freely in this type of situation, and that makes them dangerous, which means they might be able to trouble the Storm under those circumstances. Tip: Canberra +10.5 @ $1.80

TAB odds: Storm $1.32, -8.5 @ $1.80, Raiders $3.40, +8.5 @ $2

Sunday, September 3

Newcastle Knights vs. Cronulla Sharks, McDonald Jones Stadium 2:00pm (AEST)

Knights: Nathan Ross, Ken Sio, Dane Gagai, Peter Mata'utia, Shaun Kenny-dowall, Jack Cogger, Trent Hodkinson, Jacob Saifiti, Danny Levi, Josh King, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Jamie Buhrer, Mitchell Barnett. Reserves: Joe Wardle 15. Tyrone Amey 16. Sam Stone 17. Mickey Paea 18. Brendan Elliott 19. Pasami Saulo 20. Jaelen Feeney 21. Chanel Mata'utia

Sharks: Valentine Holmes, Sosaia Feki, Kurt Capewell, Ricky Leutele, Gerard Beale, James Maloney, Chad Townsend, Andrew Fifita, Jayden Brailey, Matt Prior, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham, Paul Gallen. Reserves: Jayson Bukuya, Chris Heighington, Jeremy Latimore, James Segeyaro, Joseph Paulo, Fa'amanu Brown, Jesse Ramien, Jack Bird

Brett Kimmorley's tip: Knights

TAB verdict: They were playing a good team in the Roosters, but Cronulla were highly disappointing last week with plenty on the line - they should have won after being a man up at the end. They have to take no prisoners against Newcastle and show they are going to be a genuine finals force. If they don't win by plenty, it won't be a pass mark. Tip: Cronulla -10.5 @ $2

TAB odds: Knights $3.50, +10.5 @ $1.80 , Sharks $1.30, -10.5 @ $2

St George Illawarra Dragons v Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, ANZ Stadium 4:00pm (AEST)

Dragons: Matthew Dufty, Nene Macdonald, Josh Dugan, Timoteo Lafai, Jason Nightingale, Gareth Widdop, Kurt Mann, Leeson Ah Mau, Cameron McInnes, Paul Vaughan, Tyson Frizell, Joel Thompson, Jack de Belin. Reserves: Tariq Sims, Hame Sele, Blake Lawrie, Josh McCrone, Will Matthews, Kalifa Faifai Loa, Taane Milne, Luciano Leilua

Bulldogs: William Hopoate, Chase Stanley, Josh Morris, Brenko Lee, Marcelo Montoya,Matt Frawley, Moses Mbye, Aiden Tolman, Michael Lichaa, James Graham, Josh Jackson, Adam Elliot, David Klemmer. Reserves: Sam Kasiano, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Danny Fualalo, Francis Tualau, Rhyse Martin, Josh Reynolds, Andy Saunder, Kerrod Holland

Brett Kimmorley's tip: Dragons

TAB verdict: The Dragons were gutsy last week and just did enough to beat a Penrith side that just couldn't click into gear in attack - play that game again and the result could be very different. Canterbury have been infinitely better the last fortnight, albeit against lesser opposition, but they can trouble a Dragons side that has struggled to string together consistent performances for the entire second half of the year, even with nothing to play for. Tip: Canterbury +7.5 @ $1.95

TAB Odds: Dragons $1.33, -8.5 @ $1.90, Bulldogs $3.30, +8.5 @ $1.90

Wests Tigers vs. New Zealand Warriors, Leichhardt Oval at 6.30pm (AEST)

Tigers: James Tedesco, David Nofoaluma, Esan Marsters, Kevin Naiqama, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, Tuimoala Lolohea, Luke Brooks, Aaron Woods, Elijah Taylor, Tim Grant, Joel Edwards, Josh Aloiai, Matt Eisenhuth. Reserves: Alex Twal, Sauaso Sue, Bayley Sironen, Jack Littlejohn, Ava Seumanufagai, Jeremy Marshall-King, JJ Felise, Watson Heleta

Warriors: Roger Tuivasa-sheck, David Fusitua, Blake Ayshford, Solomone Kata, Ken Maumalo, Kieran Foran, Shaun Johnson, Ben Matulino, Issac Luke, Sam Lisone, Bunty Afoa, Ryan Hoffman, Simon Mannering. Reserves: Mafoa'aeata Hingano, Charlie Gubb, Isaiah Papalii, Jazz Tevaga, Charnze Nicoll-klokstad, Chris Satae, James Bell, Mason Lino

Brett Kimmorley's Tip: Tigers

TAB verdict: A tough game to assess, but if the Tigers play to the level they have in the last month, they should be winning. The Warriors continue to drift in and out of games and are just too hard to trust right now. Tip: Wests Tigers -5.5 @ $1.90

TAB odds: Tigers $1.55, -4.5 @ $1.90, Warriors $2.45, +4.5 @ $1.90
