It finally happened. Sam Bradford was replaced as the Cardinals' quarterback by rookie Josh Rosen with 4:31 left in the game Sunday against the Bears after the offense scored two touchdowns early in the first quarter and didn't manage to score again. But even the change at quarterback wasn't enough as Arizona lost 16-14.

Rosen replaces Bradford but can't rescue Cards

Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen replaced starter Sam Bradford in the fourth quarter Sunday with the Cardinals trailing by two, but the former UCLA star couldn't get the job done as Arizona dropped to 0-3.

Since starting the game 4-for-5 for 92 yards and 2 TDs, Cardinals quarterback Sam Bradford has gone 6-for-11 for 17 yards and 2 INTs.

The Cardinals are fortunate to have put two quick touchdowns on the board in the first quarter because their offense hasn't done much since. Arizona still leads at halftime, 14-3, but quarterback Sam Bradford threw for 3 yards in the second quarter after putting up 92 in the first while the offense didn't gain a single yard in the second quarter.

This is the Sam Bradford the Cardinals -- and everyone else -- expected. He's thrown for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 4-for-5 passing in the first quarter for a QB rating of 158.3.

Up 7-0 on the Bears early in the first quarter, the Cardinals hold their first lead of the season. It came on the team's first passing touchdown of the year. It also helped Arizona score more points today than they had in the entire season.

Cards have financial incentive to turn to Rosen

If the Cardinals bench Sam Bradford after this week or even decide to release him from the roster and go with Mike Glennon as the backup, they would save over $4 million in unpaid per-game roster bonuses, per a review of Bradford's contract.

Cardinals RT Andre Smith and DT Olsen Pierre were ruled out of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, coach Steve Wilks said.
