Melbourne Vixens name midcourt Kate Moloney captain for inaugural Super Netball season

The Melbourne Vixens have named wing-defender Kate Moloney captain for the inaugural Super Netball season which kicks off next Friday.

The 24-year-old is supported by Tegan Phillip and Liz Watson in a new look leadership team tasked with guiding the side to the finals.

"I am so excited and honoured, to have been named Captain of the Vixens for the 2017 Suncorp Super Netball Season," said Moloney.

"It is such a privilege to be part of the leadership group alongside Tegan and Liz. Now I just can't wait to hit the court."

Nominated by her fellow teammates, coach Simmon McKinnis said it the majority overwhelmingly voted for Moloney.

"The team's decision was quite unanimous, with Kate a standout, along with great support for Tegan and Liz," said McKinnis.

"Kate, Tegan and Liz have all been instrumental in bringing the team together as we approach the start of the season, and I am really pleased to see them take on the Captaincy and Vice-Captaincy."

The Vixens open their season with a huge clash against cross-town rivals Collingwood Magpies at Hisense Arena.
