College Football wraps another season in January with LIVE coverage on ESPN of games from the elite Bowl Championship Series (BCS), season-ending matchups that give the season’s top-ranked squads one last spin in the spotlight. The Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and the BCS National Championship game form the BCS. Each of these games has a personality and a history of its own, with the legendary Rose Bowl – airing on ESPN January 2nd – still considered “the granddaddy of them all.”
While an appearance in any of the BCS games is considered a huge honor for a college football program, making an appearance in the National Championship is the dream of every player and coach. Defending national champions Alabama are back as favorites to make another appearance in the title game, joined by Oregon – last year’s Rose Bowl winners – as well as South Carolina, Florida, Kansas State, a reenergized Notre Dame and West Virginia, the latter decisive winners over Clemson in the last Orange Bowl.
