Adelaide coach Joey Wright was left fuming after receiving an official warning from a referee during his side's 95-90 NBL loss to Brisbane.
Brisbane finally found the key to winning a close clash, in doing so ending both the 36ers' seven-game winning streak and their own seven-game losing streak.
But Wright was clearly upset after the loss in Brisbane on Saturday, questioning why he was given a warning from the match referee for what he said was "trying to motivate his players".
"I got a warning from the referee and it really antagonised (me) in that situation," said Wright.
"I was yelling to my players; 'Adelaide pick it up, Adelaide play harder, Adelaide let's go' and the referee comes over and gives me a warning?
"I think that was extremely unprofessional and I don't know why that was the case.
"My response was that I was yelling at my team. I should be able to yell at them as much as they'll allow me to."
Wright ruled out an official complaint to the NBL but clearly felt the warning was totally unnecessary.
"I haven't spoken to the NBL all season, I won't be starting now," he said.
Brisbane turned the game with an aggressive start to the third quarter, turning a five point half deficit into a handy five point lead with a 10-2 run.
Centre Tom Jervis produced two huge back-to-back plays in the finals quarter making a tough basket to keep them in the lead 86-80 before drawing a crucial defensive charge on the next play.
Once again, American Perrin Buford provided some highlight reel plays with a few blocks and an slam dunk on the way to 24 points, 10 rebounds in an MVP performance.
He was ably supported by fellow import Travis Trice who was super cool down the stretch, collecting 15 quality points.
Former Adelaide forward Mitch Young, who has been battling glandular fever, was a big bench contributor with 11 points and four rebounds in less than 10 minutes of court time.
"When you are on a steak like that (seven losses) everyone feels it," said Lemanis.
"You don't feel good about life but I was proud of the effort we showed today given the position we are in."
