Columbia's Jeff Coby has agreed to a deal with the Knicks, league sources confirm. Coby, a Haitian National Team standout, has worked out with the Knicks in informal sessions recently and impressed the staff. The Coby agreement was first reported by Nicola Lupo. Coby, a stretch four, is the 21st player under contract for training camp. Teams can carry a maximum of 20 players in camp. So this signing is further evidence that Joakim Noah is likely to be waived/stretched/bought out by the Knicks before training camp begins.

David Fizdale on second-year guard Frank Ntilikina: “For me, I've kind of taken a different approach with Frank than (what) everyone else wanted from Frank. I wanted to let Frank be who he's going to be. So I'm just trying to help develop the skill sets that he's going to need to become an every day player. Can he break guys down off the dribble? Is he making his open threes? We already know the kid is an elite defender. It's hard to say that about 19, 20-year-olds coming into this league. This kid can guard. So offensively I want him to get to a place where he finds himself and he's comfortable. But I'm not applying the same stuff that everybody else is putting on him, trying to make him into somebody, one of these super guards or whatever. Let's see what he turns out to be with great just consistent, detailed player development.  And we get him out on the floor and when the lights go on that will tell us everything we need to know.”

Knicks rookie Kevin Knox, speaking at an event for Subway, on the possibility of the team making the playoffs this season: “Oh yeah. I feel like that 8th seed is kind of still up in the air in the East. You've got a lot of good teams in the East that are playoff teams. But that eighth seed can really be up in the air,” Knox said in an interview with ESPN on Thursday at an event to promote new Subway sandwiches. “You're going to have to win some games in order to get it but I feel like that's something we can do with LeBron (James) leaving (for the Los Angeles Lakers). So I feel that that's opened up more room for teams to make that playoff push. I feel like we can be one of the teams that makes that push for the playoffs, especially with the young guys that we have and new coaching staff with (David) Fizdale. I feel like we can really make a push for that eighth seed.”

Walt Frazier puts things in perspective for the Knicks during an interview Wednesday on SiriusXM NBA Radio, discussing the importance of Kristaps Porzingis' health: "The reality is without KP, man, we're going nowhere. Without Porzingis, he's our future. The worst thing that could have happened to the Knicks did happen. This guy blew his knee out mid season. Supposedly he's coming back in January, but who knows. If the Knicks don't get him back to his former grandeur things are looking pretty bleak for them." Porzingis is currently rehabbing from ACL surgery. He's expected to remain sidelined until at least December.
