Brazilian UFC fighter Fabricio Werdum has been fined $600 for hitting a rival in the neck with a boomerang outside a Sydney hotel.
Werdum did not appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday but his matter was heard and determined and he was fined.
Covington pursued charges against former heavyweight champion after video emerged of the Brazilian allegedly throwing a boomerang souvenir at the American. Covington, 29, also claimed Werdum punched.
NSW Police confirmed the following morning that charges had been laid.
"A man will face court after he allegedly assaulted a man with a boomerang yesterday," a NSW Police statement read.
"The incident escalated when the 40-year-old man allegedly threw a bag containing the boomerang at the other man, which hit him in the neck. Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command were later alerted to the incident and commenced investigations.
"Following inquiries, a 40-year-old man was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for common assault."
