Light heavyweight matchup between Mauricio Rua, Gian Villante booked for March 11

A light heavyweight matchup between former champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Gian Villante has been booked to UFC Fight Night on March 11 in Fortaleza, Brazil.

UFC officials announced the 205-pound matchup on Friday, following an initial report by MMAFighting.com.

Rua (24-10) is currently riding a two-fight win streak, which is the longest streak he's put together since 2009. The Brazilian won the UFC's 205-pound title in 2010, but he has gone just 5-5 since.

The 35-year-old suffered back-to-back knockout losses in 2014, but he has rebounded with victories over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Corey Anderson.

Villante (15-7) will be seeking the biggest victory of his career. Fighting out of New York, Villante is 5-4 overall in the UFC. His most high-profile victory came against Anderson, via TKO in 2015. He has recorded knockouts in four of his five UFC victories.

A middleweight contest between Vitor Belfort (25-13) and Kelvin Gastelum (13-2) is scheduled to headline the televised UFC Fight Night event.
