Will Robbie Ray be baseball's next superace?

There's reason to believe Ray still hasn't hit his ceiling just yet. If he can cut down on his walks -- 71 in 162 innings -- he can become a guy who consistently posts sub-3.00 ERAs.

The best and the brightest

The nine Gold Glove winners of the National League were announced Tuesday. The Rockies and the Diamondbacks each have two players receiving the honor this year.

ESPN Stats and Information

Diamondbacks P Zack Greinke wins his 4th straight Gold Glove Award (the last P to win 4 straight was Greg Maddux). Greinke pitched more than 200 innings and made no errors. He also allowed 5 steals on only 12 attempts.

ESPN Stats and Information

Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt won his 3rd Gold Glove, the 3 are the most by any player in Diamondbacks history. Goldschmidt rated as the best in baseball at taking away hits on balls hit in the 1B-2B hole. He's also a standout throw-scooper and rates well at both defending the bunt and starting double plays.

The NL MVP finalists include one surprise: Paul Goldschmidt, Giancarlo Stanton and Joey Votto. In a crowded field that included Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon, Votto beats out the two Rockies as a finalist even though he played for a team that lost 94 games. Of course, Stanton also played for a losing team. So does that mean Goldschmidt will win? Prediction: Stanton's 59 home runs and 132 RBIs earn him his first MVP Award.
