ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Ty'lik Evans scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Savannah State beat South Carolina State 94-81 on Thursday night to clinch a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.
Austin Dasent had 16 points, while Dexter McClanahan, Zach Sellers and Javaris Jenkins scored 15 apiece for Savannah State. The Tigers (15-16, 12-4), who finished the regular season tied atop the conference standings with Bethune-Cookman and Hampton, will be the No. 3 seed, and have a first-round bye, in the MEAC Tournament.
Dasent and Maricus Glenn each scored four points during an 8-0 opening run and Savannah State never trailed. James Richardson's layup pulled the Bulldogs within six points at the break, but they would get no closer.
