LORMAN, Miss. -- Maurice Rivers scored 15 points to lead Jackson State to a 60-55 victory over Alcorn State on Saturday night.
Rivers was 5-of-10 shooting from the floor. Treshawn Bolden and Jesse Love added 10 points apiece for Jackson State (6-10, 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which has won three straight to start conference play after snapping a three-game losing skid. Paris Collins chipped in nine points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.
Jackson State opened the second half on 18-11 run to stretch its three-point halftime advantage to 47-37. Rivers scored six points and Bolden added four during the stretch. The Tigers held a double-digit lead with four minutes left before Alcorn State finished on a 9-4 spurt.
