BODYARMOR to sponsor Ryan Blaney at Daytona: Team Penske announced today that BODYARMOR Sports Drink will be featured as the primary sponsor on the No. 12 Ford Fusion driven by Ryan Blaney for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, July 7. This marks the first-ever race team partnership for BODYARMOR, which began working with Blaney last season. Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott triumph in Can-Am Duel at Daytona: Ryan Blaney held off Team Penske teammate Joey Logano to win Thursday night's first 150-mile qualifying race in the Can-Am Duel at Daytona International Speedway, but the story of the race was the list of prominent cars that did not survive until the checkered flag. In the second Duel, Chase Elliott grabbed the lead on Lap 27 of 60 and held it the rest of the way, beating Kevin Harvick to the finish line by .081 seconds. Blaney's last race in the famed #21 Wood Brothers Ford The Ryan Blaney chapter in Wood Brothers history comes to a close this weekend with the running of the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Team Penske to expand to three car team in 2018..with Blaney Team Penske announced that Ryan Blaney will join the organization as a full-time driver in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) beginning in 2018 as the team returns to a three-car operation in NASCAR's premier series. Race Recap: Ryan Blaney captures first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup victory in dramatic Pocono 400: Dogged by Kevin Harvick for the final eight laps of Sunday's Axalta presents the Pocono 400, Ryan Blaney held off the 2014 series champion in a breathtaking battle to claim the first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory of his career. After a restart on Lap 148 of 160, Blaney grabbed the lead from polesitter Kyle Busch on Lap 151, with Busch on older tires, doing everything he could to block Blaney's #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford. Racing side by side with Busch's #18 Toyota down the Long Pond straightaway, Blaney stayed in the gas through the Tunnel Turn and cleared Busch's Camry off the corner.[More](6-11-2017)

Blaney wins at Pocono: #21-Ryan Blaney won the Pocono 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway for his 1st career win. He took the lead from #18-Busch with 9 laps to go and held off #4-Harvick to get the first win for Wood Brothers Racing since Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500 in 2011.
#4-Harvick finished 2nd followed by #77-Jones (career-best finish), #41-Busch, #2-Keselowski, #78-Truex, Jr., #42-Larson, #24-Elliott, #18-Busch, and #20-Kenseth.
Pole sitter #18-Busch won the first stage and finished 2nd in the second stage. He led a total of 100 laps but did not pit under the final caution and could not hold the lead on older tires. He finished 9th.
#43-Darrell Wallace, Jr., making his Cup debut, was caught speeding on pit road three times during the race. He finished 26th.
The second caution of the day came with 5 laps left in stage 2 when Johnson lost the brakes on his car and made hard contact with the outside wall hard. Behind Johnson, McMurray also lost brakes and slid into the wall. McMurray's car caught fire, but he got out quickly. Both drivers were ok. The race was red flagged for 23 minutes for track cleanup.
#78-Truex Jr. maintains the driver points lead by 1 point over #42-Larson.
Stages 1 & 2 were won by #18-Busch and #42-Larson.
There were 13 lead changes among 9 drivers and 4 cautions for 18 yellow flag laps
The average speed of the race was: 142.292mph.

Edwards getting paid to sit out? to Penske in 2018? Denied: when NASCAR star Carl Edwards announced last month that he too is retiring there was no such clarity. Edwards said only that he wanted to spend more time with his family but his press conference left most people unconvinced. Meanwhile I'm [Motorsports writer Gordon Kirby] told that Edwards is being paid more than $15 million to sit-out this year and that he will return to action next year at the wheel of a third Penske Racing Ford. Penske runs two cars for Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano and has been planning to expand to three cars. Penske currently runs a third car for Ryan Blaney in partnership with the Wood Brothers, one of NASCAR's longest-running teams, so RP's team is entirely prepared to run Edwards next year.(gordonkirby.com)

Penske receives Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award: More than 400 members of the motorsports industry gathered Tuesday night to honor Roger Penske during the 11th annual North Carolina Motorsports Industry Awards Ceremony at the Embassy Suites Hotel. With his wife, Kathy, and current team Penske drivers Brad Keselowski, Will Power, Simon Pagenaud, Helio Castroneves and Josef Newgarden among those in attendance, Penske was this year's recipient of the Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award, which has been presented annually since 2007 by the membership of the North Carolina Motorsports Association. Previous winners of the Achievement in Motorsports Tribute Award are Bill France Jr., Benny Parsons, Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Richard Childress, Junior Johnson, O. Bruton Smith, H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, the Ned Jarrett family, Mike Helton and Jeff Gordon. Among the others in the room to honor Penske on this night were NASCAR Hall of Famers Rick Hendrick and Bobby Allison, four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears, NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton and Team Penske President Tim Cindric. Earlier in the program, longtime racing announcer Ken Squier, who was unable to attend, was presented with the Jim Hunter Memorial Media Award. Team Penske and Nikon Metrology form technical alliance: Team Penske announced that it has formed a technical alliance with Nikon Metrology, a market leader in metrology instrumentation and technological innovation. The announcement expands upon an already existing relationship between the two companies.
Under the terms of the new multi-year agreement, Brighton, Michigan-based Nikon Metrology will help enhance Team Penske's manufacturing process of its racecars competing in NASCAR, working closely with the organization's fabrication department. Team Penske will also rely on Nikon Metrology's superior optical instrumentation and resources to support its overall technical processes at its headquarters in Mooresville, N.C.
"Team Penske is continuously looking for opportunities to further develop the processes involved in building fast, consistent and reliable race cars," said Tim Cindric, Team Penske President. "By expanding our partnership with Nikon Metrology, we now have an industry leader that is committed to taking the quality of our race cars to another level."
After working closely with Penske Technology Group in the past, Nikon Metrology is looking forward to the new challenge of partnering with the winning Team Penske racing program, which celebrated its 50th anniversary season in 2016.
