Hall of Fame
Scheer: Thar's gold in them hills!
I grew up around lumberjack sports and spent most of my time on or near hallowed ground at Lumberjack Bowl in Hayward, Wisc. Forty years later I have won World Titles of my own but the memories still keep coming and they just get better.

Matijevich: Bush sneaks in for Gold
My favorite Great Outdoor Games moment is the 2002 Men’s Endurance competition. In three out of the last four years, the same four competitors made the top four: Jason Wynyard, David Bolstad, Matt Bush and Dion Lane (Dion finished 6th in 2000).

LeGate: Shoot your own game
In 2001, the second year of the games, a new seeding system was instituted in the rifle event, setting up what would become my Hall of Fame moment.

Harkins: Retriever props
Super Sue’s gold medal performance in the 2001 Great Outdoor Games truly was amazing, but what stands out in my mind was her “coming out” party at the Olympic Oval later that day.

Hughes: Bush league
Jason Wynyard, of New Zealand and two time champion of the Men’s Endurance event, had just lost, in the semi final round, to his brother-in-law, Dion Lane, also of New Zealand, in the most awaited match-up of the Men’s Endurance Event.

Sanders: One fish, one inch
My favorite moment came early in the day of the fly fishing competition on the Ausable River in the 2001 Great Outdoor Games.

McKinnis: Mel Lentz, hero
I have a confession: I'm a sports junkie. I have been all my life, keeping track of all the scores, the rules and, most of all, the players. Like most sport junkies I have heroes.
