Matildas star Samantha Kerr has become the all-time leading goal scorer in the United States' National Women's Soccer League (NSWL) after she scored a hat-trick on Sunday morning (AEST) for her side Sky Blue.

The 23-year-old scored the exciting hat-trick in the final 15 minutes as her side Sky Blues came from 2-0 behind to shock Kansas City and win 3-2.

The Aussie has now recorded 34 goals in the NWSL, moving ahead of Jessica McDonald (33) and Kim Little (32).

Kerr is also the equal top scorer this season with nine goals for the Sky Blue who sit third in the standings.

The Perth Glory star has had a strong year after she was awarded the W-League's highest honour, the Julie Dolan medal, in May and also starred for the Matildas at the Algarve Cup where they finished fourth.
