The Emerging Opals have claimed gold in the 2017 World University Games after completing a stunning run through the finals.
After navigating through a tough group featuring Russia, who were the only team to beat them in the tournament, Australia then defeated the United States and host nation Chinese Taipei before downing red-hot favourite Japan 85-76 in the final.
The Australians took advantage of their size differential, finishing with 19 more rebounds than their opponents. Lauren Scherf and Darcee Garbin continued to dominate proceedings, combining for 48 points and 11 assists.
The victory comes a decade after Australia first won gold at the World University Games back in 2007.
