The five finalists for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award were announced today. They include: Manase Hungalu (Oregon State), Hercules Mata'afa (Washington State), Andrew Motuapuaka (Virginia Tech), Jahlani Tavai (Hawai'i) and Vita Vea (Washington).  Colorado quarterback Sefo Liufau won the award last year.

Utah State bowl eligible after 38-0 win over Hawaii

Jordan Love passed for a score and ran for another, Gerold Bright and LaJuan Hunt each had scoring runs, and Utah State beat Hawaii 38-0 on Saturday to become bowl eligible for the sixth time in seven years.

Brown leads the way in receiving

Ole Miss sophomore A.J. Brown is atop the nation through two weeks with 389 receiving yards, just 23 yards short of his entire 2016 total. Hawai'i's John Ursua and Marshall's Tyre Brady made the top five mostly on the strength of one outing, as Ursua put up 272 yards on Aug. 26, and Brady tallied 248 on Saturday.

Three Mountain West backs rank among the nation's top five rushers through two weeks, with Hawai'i's Diocemy Saint Juste leading the way. Navy's Zach Abey is the only QB on the list, while Bryce Love has the fewest carries (30) of the five, averaging 11.3 yards per rush thus far.
