Remember Bryce Love? Tonight may be he closest we get to see the Stanford tailback's 2017 form. Love practiced at full speed Wednesday, and sat out the last two days to get the soreness out. The Cardinal needs him for more than the obvious reason. Backup Trevor Speights is hurt and didn't make the trip to Washington.

No. 14 Washington St. rallies past No. 24 Stanford 41-38

Gardner Minshew completed his first 19 passes of the second half and drove No. 14 Washington State to a 42-yard field goal by Blake Mazza with 19 seconds remaining to put the Cougars in sole possession of first place in the Pac-12 North with a 41-38...

One more chapter in Gardner Minshew's incredible story: the Washington State QB, a grad transfer from East Carolina, went 24-for-27 for 237 yards in the second half to bring the Cougars back from a 14-point deficit and beat Stanford. The Cougars control the Pac-12 North and play three of their last four in Pullman. I could get fired up about a Washington State-Utah Pac-12 Championship Game.

Mazza wins it for Washington State with 42-yard FG (0:43)
Minshew sets up go-ahead FG with 35-yard strike (0:28)
Stanford scores equalizer with 25-yard TD (0:37)

With Cal's upset of Washington, the winner of Washington State-Stanford will be the only Pac-12 team with one conference loss. And it's not even November. Reminds me of the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, when three- and four-loss Pac-8/10 champs would go to the Rose Bowl — and win.

Washington State ties it up with 7-yard TD pass (0:31)
Washington State trims lead with 3-yard TD run (0:25)

Stanford has undergone an offensive personality change in the first half against Washington State. Head coach David Shaw is play-calling against every tendency he has shown in recent years: throwing nine times on the opening 10-play TD drive, throwing out routes, using no-huddle, and throwing a TD on 4th-&-goal inside the Cougar 1. K.J. Costello is 19-of-22 for 192 yards and 3 TDs at halftime, The Cardinal has 262 total yards, and, more important, a 28-17 lead.

Cougars set up FG with 54-yard catch-and-run (0:37)
Stanford converts on 4th-and-goal to double lead (0:29)
Stanford reclaims lead with 10-yard TD pass (0:34)
Love's 43-yard scamper leads to another Cardinal TD (0:58)
Cougars jump ahead with 4-yard TD pass (0:28)
