Pitt secondary coach Renaldo Hill is leaving for a position with the Miami Dolphins. Hill spent the past three seasons with Pat Narduzzi's staff. "Coaching in the NFL has been Renaldo's aspiration and we are thrilled he's getting this opportunity with the Dolphins," Narduzzi wrote on Twitter today. "... Renaldo will always be a Panther and always be part of our program."

I can confirm Pitt is hiring Randy Bates as defensive coordinator, as first reported by Yahoo! earlier today. Bates coached linebackers at Northwestern, which could move recently hired Tim McGarigle into that role. But I'm told Pat Fitzgerald will take his time sorting out the roles on defense.

Pitt offensive tackle Brian O'Neill has decided to leave school to enter the NFL Draft, joining Quadree Henderson and Jordan Whitehead in declaring early. O'Neill won All-ACC honors and the Piesman Trophy, too, during his time with the Panthers.

Pitt safety Jordan Whitehead declares for the NFL draft. Whitehead had 60 tackles, four pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery, appearing in nine games after being suspended for the first three. He earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2016. "I want to thank the entire Pitt football program and university, my teammates and the Pitt community for an amazing experience," he wrote on Twitter. "Pittsburgh will always be my home."

Pitt signs Narduzzi to new deal through 2024

Pittsburgh has signed coach Pat Narduzzi, who has been with the Panthers for three seasons, to a new contract that will keep him there through the 2024 season.

Adam Rittenberg ESPN Staff Writer

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi has received a seven-year contract extension through the 2024 season. He's 21-17 with the Panthers but has the most wins through his first three seasons of any Pitt coach. He also is 2-0 against teams ranked in the top-2 nationally (Clemson in 2016, Miami in 2017).

Pitt knocked off No. 2 Miami 24-14 on Friday, in what was the highest ranked opponent Pitt has ever beat at home. After the game, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said, "There is a lot of celebrating going on in that locker room. I talked about the past and the big upset win at West Virginia. It happened in Clemson last year. I told the players it's about time it happened in Pittsburgh."
