Former Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, who attended the OU-Texas basketball game Saturday, was asked about the Red River Showdown. He didn't mince words about the Longhorns: "You come to Oklahoma to beat Texas. I was born and raised in Austin. They didn't recruit me. I grew up 15 miles from their campus. I can't stand them. Anything they do, I don't care. I talked to the NFL guys and they said I need to calm it down a little bit. But when it comes to Texas, absolutely not. No. end of story."

Caught up with Broncos (and North team) coach Vance Joseph before the Senior Bowl. His parting message to players last night? To remember, as they go through the pre-draft process, to keep "the person" and "the player" separate. Used Baker Mayfield as an example. He learned more about who Baker is away from the field this week, after having had only heard the surface-level perceptions about him. Still too early for Vance to say if Baker is the QB he's looking for, though.

Sources: Mayfield to see action in Senior Bowl

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, after a strong week of practices in which he was praised for taking command of the huddle, has decided to play in the Senior Bowl, sources told ESPN.

Mike Triplett ESPN Staff Writer

Baker Mayfield remained noncommittal on whether he will play in Saturday's Senior Bowl. But the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback seemed pleased with his work after three days of practice in front of NFL coaches and scouts here in Mobile, Ala. When asked where he thinks he made the greatest strides, Mayfield said, "Taking control of the huddle, being able to verbalize and let the guys know that I know what I'm doing back there. And I think I made progress with my footwork under center, which has been the biggest challenge for me. Getting used to that, getting back under center, taking drops and the play fakes and whatnot." ... There is no question based on analysts' observations throughout the week that Mayfield only improved his draft stock through his performance and that noticeable command of the huddle.

Oklahoma DE/OLB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (6-foot-1, 243 pounds) should project as a sub-package edge rusher in the NFL. Okoronkwo has speed off the ball and he showcased a deeper set of pass rush moves this afternoon. High-effort player, too. He's going to finish plays.
