Etienne rallies No. 3 Clemson to 27-23 win over Orange

Clemson avoided the upset by Syracuse, but left doubts as to whether it's top-four material. Starting QB Trevor Lawrence was knocked out of the game with an injury and veteran Kelly Bryant said he would transfer. The selection committee considers injuries to key players, but Clemson looked beatable WITH Lawrence in the game. Right now No. 22 Duke is the only ranked opponent on the schedule. The committee will call Clemson's SOS into question. It helped that Texas A&M escaped Arkansas.

Travis Etienne has played an incredible game for Clemson and if the Tigers hold on to beat Syracuse they have him to thank. His career-high 203 yards have made a major difference as hr and Tavien Feaster wore Syracuse down on that final drive

Syracuse coach Dino Babers made the right call to go for it on fourth-and-goal at the 1 yard line and Eric Dungey proved him right with the push into the end zone. The Orange have been in control throughout and have a two-score lead on a team that is playing with a backup quarterback.

Clemson loses QB Lawrence, but rallies for win

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence left his first career start with concussion-like symptoms, but Tigers coach Dabo Swinney thinks the freshman won't miss too much time.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

The worst-case scenario happened to Clemson in the second quarter against Syracuse. Starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence left the game with a head injury and now, with no Kelly Bryant, Chase Brice has to lead the Tigers back from a 16-7 halftime deficit. Coach Dabo Swinney is going to take some heat for his decision to go with Lawrence, because it led to Bryant's decision to transfer.
