Anderson's TD lifts Alabama State past Jackson State 14-7

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Alex Anderson scored on a 15-yard run with 9:01 left to play as Alabama State defeated Jackson State 14-7 on Saturday.

Anderson's score was set up when Christian Jacquemin punted the ball 30 yards with the Tigers at their own 12-yard line. Khalid Thomas returned it 12 yards, and a Jackson State penalty put Alabama State (3-6, 3-5 Southwestern) in scoring position.

Jackson State (3-6, 3-4) turned the ball over on downs and punted on its final two possessions.

After a scoreless first half, Jarin Morikawa threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Jairus Moll with 7:55 left in the third to give the Tigers their only lead of the game.

Jujuan Young-Battle threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Palmer Graham just more than three minutes later to tie it. Young-Battle threw for 125 yards and ran for 43.

Morikawa was 24 for 43 for 234 yards.
