George Groves dismissed Chris Eubank Sr.'s theory on boxing genetics as he insisted he will give the former world champion's son nightmares in the second defence of his WBA world super-middleweight title Feb. 17 at the Manchester Arena.

The eagerly-awaited clash between the English rivals is also the first super-middleweight World Boxing Super Series semifinal; Eubank Jr. (26-1, 20 KOs), 28, is yet to fight for a world title while Groves (27-3, 20 KOs), 29, has been involved in five world-title fights with both fighters promising a stoppage.

For the challenger, he hopes beating Groves is the first step towards emulating the success of his father, Eubank Sr., who won world middleweight and super-middleweight titles in the 1990s, with epic encounters against the likes of Nigel Benn, Michael Watson and Steve Collins.

But Groves laughed off Eubank Sr.'s suggestion that his son is destined to become world champion because he has naturally inherited his boxing talent.

"When you talk about genetics, sure I know his dad boxed but that was well before my time and there's no reason to get the laptop out and watch Senior against some little known Belgian or other fighter," said Groves.

"I bumped into Senior when the draw was made for the Super Series and I thought he would come better prepared with something to say other than his son is genetically gifted at boxing because of what he achieved.

"My dad doesn't look much of an athlete when he's on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon but I am world champion with a legitimate world title. I've moved on at a much different pace than him."

Groves was adamant that anyone who disregards him on the basis of some previous poor performances are making a judgement error, with the Londoner stating he'll prove them wrong.

"I had a rocky couple of years after," Groves added. "A couple of losses and a couple of dodgy performances. Fortunately for me a lot of people focus on that and take little notice of my form of late.

"I think that lately I am unstoppable. My distance control is fantastic, my reach is spot on, my jab is a lot faster than his.

"These are all things that will cause Junior nightmares and because of that, I believe it will be a comfortable fight. Once I find my range, once I kick in, there will be a lot of posturing from him a lot of holding from him but I am going to ice him. I believe he will be out cold."
