TAB Betting Blog: Hartnell pumping for Doncaster Mile

It's a big day of racing across two states on Saturday, with four Group 1 races at Royal Randwick and a terrific card at Caulfield. Good luck with your tips.

RANDWICK - DONCASTER MILE

BEST BET: HARTNELL (Race 9, No.1)

Hartnell's a much loved veteran who has raced at the elite level for all of his career.

He won the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over 1600 metres at Randiwck during the spring and is going better this time around on the back of a luckless but eye catching placing in the inaugural All-Mile.

At big odds he looks a tremendous winning chance, but for the punters who want to stake slightly more conservatively don't be afraid to have more on the place at the extremely generous odds.

EACH-WAY: WIDGEE TURF (Race 9, No.9)

A marvel of a horse -- purchased for just $4500 -- who can run a big race in the $3m feature.

Widgee Turf loves the sting out of the ground, having won his only start on a heavy ground while also notching two wins and a second from three starts on soft.

Will be in the finish at big odds.

LONGSHOT: ALOISA (Race 9, No.13)

Looked primed to take over the racing world after the 2017 Spring Carnival, but hasn't won a race since.

If she's ever going to produce on the big stage again this will be the race that she does it in.

Aloisa's a Group 1 winner over 1600 metres who goes better the Sydney way with the sting out of the ground, and at $71 she's worth a small win bet and a crack on the place.

RANDWICK

BEST BET: RINGERDINGDING (Race 2, No.1)

An impressive three year-old who ran a nice race behind Winx last start, Ringerdingding drops significantly in class and steps up to 1600 metres where he is a previous winner.

He's drawn barrier one against the services of premiership leading jockey James McDonald, and is an emergency for the feature race on the day, but in the likely event he fails to gain a start in that race punters can check in.

VALUE BET: SUNLIGHT (Race 8, No.11)

The tar sprinting filly comes into this race on the back of two wins at Group 1 level, but continues to sneak under the radar and should again be in the finish.

Sunlight has won 10 of her 15 career starts and with luck that record would read even better, while some of her rivals constantly find trouble due to their racing pattern.

CAULFIELD

BEST BET: MR QUICKIE (Race 4, No.1)

A terrific three year-old who has won his past six starts and should extend that winning streak to seven.

Mr Quickie gets weight relief after the claim for star apprentice Ethan Brown, and looks a lovely way to more than double your money.
