A-League Round 22 - Sydney FC v Melbourne City (Sunday 7pm AEDT)
If Sydney FC are any chance of snatching the Premiers Plate from Perth Glory, maximum points will be imperative when they welcome Melbourne City to Leichhardt Oval on Sunday night in the final clash of Round 22.
Sydney FC are currently six points behind Perth with six rounds remaining. Before contesting their first two Asian Champions League matches (0-0 home draw against Ulsan and 1-0 loss away to Kawasaki Frontale), Sydney FC were in strong A-League form with consecutive wins including a 2-0 victory against Adelaide United at Leichhardt Oval.
Melbourne City are currently four points ahead of seventh-placed Newcastle as they cling to a finals berth. The gap between Melbourne City and the Jets has closed due to the former experiencing a six-match winless streak (three draws and three losses). Melbourne City have not played for a fortnight since frittering away a 2-0 lead in the last 10 minutes against Perth in an eventual 2-2 result at AAMI Park.
Melbourne City won't find the task of securing a win easy on Sunday night as they are winless in their past eight encounters against Sydney FC (one draw and seven losses) dating back to December 2016.
Sydney FC have the better form and considering their strong recent record against Melbourne City, Sydney FC should be too good and claim all three points.
