AFL Finals Week 2: teams, previews and odds

play
Swans to end Cats season (1:54)

Geelong return to the MCG where they will face a rampaging Sydney Swans team that Jude Bolton thinks will be too good. (1:54)

Friday, September 15

Geelong Cats vs. Sydney Swans, MCG at 7:50pm (AEST)

Cats: B Tom Stewart, Tom Lonergan, Zach Tuohy HB Andrew Mackie, Lachie Henderson, Zach Guthrie C Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Mark Blicavs HF Sam Menegola, Harry Taylor, Brandan Parfitt F Daniel Menzel, Tom Hawkins, James Parsons FOL Zac Smith, Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Selwood I/C Jed Bews, Jake Kolodjashnij, Darcy Lang, Steven Motlop EMG Rhys Stanley, Jordan Murdoch, Jackson Thurlow

Swans: B Nick Smith, Heath Grundy, Callum Mills HB Jarrad McVeigh, Dane Rampe, Zak Jones C Isaac Heeney, Josh P. Kennedy, Jake Lloyd HF Dean Towers, Lance Franklin, George Hewett F Kieren Jack, Callum Sinclair, Sam Reid FOL Sam Naismith, Dan Hannebery, Luke Parker I/C Harry Cunningham, Nic Newman, Tom Papley, Gary Rohan EMG Aliir Aliir, Daniel Robinson, Lewis Melican

TAB verdict: Sydney will be the shortest priced interstate side in a final since 2009. However, only one of the top six shortest - Hawthorn in the 2015 preliminary final - has gone on to win the match, which gives Geelong some hope. Geelong's recent record in finals is well publicised and the punters think it will continue in this match - 79 percent of the money has been on the Swans to win and they have firmed from $1.40 to $1.32.

The last two matches these two teams have played, Sydney has led by 32 and 39 points at quarter-time so back the Swans to lead by 13+ at the first interval ($3.25).

TAB odds: Geelong $3.45 V Sydney $1.33

Kennedy, Jamie Cripps FOL Nathan Vardy, Sam Mitchell, Luke Shuey I/C Sharrod Wellingham, Liam Duggan, Drew Petrie, Mark Hutchings EMG Chris Masten, Luke Partington, Will Schofield

TAB verdict: The Eagles have been the upset kings this season, winning in four out of six occasions that they have been the underdog. This is looming again as another surprise victory to the Eagles with punters throwing their support behind the team from the West. The money has been running three to one in favour of the Eagles.

West Coast to win ($2.85) and set up a preliminary final against Richmond.

TAB odds: GWS $1.45 v West Coast $2.85
